For your privacy and security, all chat messages are stored locally on your device. LMSA does not store your conversations on LMSA servers. However, if you use a cloud provider (such as OpenRouter or a custom API endpoint), your prompts and model responses are sent over the internet and handled by that provider on their servers. When using a local LM Studio or Ollama server instead, traffic stays on your local network. Cloud API traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), but your prompts and responses are still processed on the provider’s infrastructure. Please note that:
  • Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all saved chats.
  • Clearing app storage in device settings will erase all chat history.
  • These actions cannot be undone as data is stored only on your device.

Network security

The connection between your device and the LM Studio server is NOT encrypted. This means that anyone monitoring your network traffic can potentially:
  • Intercept and read all messages you send and receive
  • View any personal information or sensitive data in your conversations
  • Pose as a fake LM Studio server and respond with malicious commands or information
  • Compromise your privacy if the network or any device on it is compromised

How to protect your privacy

  • Only use LMSA on networks and devices you trust.
  • Never send personal information, passwords, or sensitive data through the app.
  • Avoid using LMSA on public Wi-Fi networks or shared/untrusted networks.
  • Be aware that compromised devices on your network can intercept your traffic.

What LMSA does with your data

Regardless of which provider you use, LMSA never receives or stores your chat data. The developer cannot see your conversations:
  • No chat data is sent to us: This applies whether you are using a local server (LM Studio/Ollama), OpenRouter, or any other provider. LMSA does not route your messages through its own servers.
  • All messages are stored locally on your device: Your chat history is saved only on your device, not on LMSA servers.
  • Local providers (LM Studio/Ollama): Messages travel directly from LMSA to your local server and stay on your network.
While LMSA itself never receives your chats, using a cloud provider means your prompts do leave your device. If you use OpenRouter, a custom cloud API endpoint, Web Search (via the privacy-respecting Brave Search API), or AI image generation, the relevant prompts and content are sent directly to those third-party services and are subject to their privacy policies, not ours.
The Free tier includes ads, while Premium removes ads. That does not change whether LMSA sends chat data to us: your conversations are still not visible to us. We believe in transparency and your right to private conversations. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
