# Quickstart

> Install LMSA, choose a provider, and send your first message in minutes.

This guide walks you from installation to your first chat. After you finish, you can explore advanced features like templates, file attachments, and voice mode.

**1. Install LMSA**

Download LMSA from the Google Play Store and open the app. The first time you launch it, the Quick Start Guide appears automatically.

**2. Choose your language**

Pick the language you want LMSA to display in. You can change this later in **Settings** under **Device & Privacy**.

Currently supported: English, Spanish, Russian, German, and Simplified Chinese.

**3. Choose a connection**

On the home screen, tap the provider you want to use:

* **Local Server**: Connect to [LM Studio](/docs/providers/lm-studio.md) or [Ollama](/docs/providers/ollama.md) running on your computer for fully private, offline chat.
* **OpenRouter**: Access hundreds of cloud models with an API key. See the [OpenRouter setup guide](/docs/providers/openrouter.md).
* **Custom API**: Connect to any [OpenAI-compatible endpoint](/docs/providers/custom-endpoint.md), self-hosted or cloud.

You can change providers anytime by opening the side menu and tapping the provider name at the bottom.

**4. Configure and apply**

Enter the required details for your chosen provider (server address, API key, or endpoint URL), then tap **Apply**.

**5. Start your first chat**

Type a message and tap send. Chats save automatically, and you can switch models anytime from the sidebar.

## Optional next steps

After your first chat, the Quick Start Guide may prompt you with two optional settings:

> [accordion] Enable notifications
>
> Allow notification permissions so you can control voice-mode text-to-speech playback from your lock screen and notification shade. You can skip this and enable it later in your device settings.

> [accordion] Keep generating in background
>
> Allow LMSA to keep generating replies when you switch to another app or lock your screen. You will see a progress notification while a response is being written, and a completion alert when it is done. You can change this anytime in **Settings** under **Device & Privacy**.
