# Introduction

> LM Studio Assistant is an Android chat app that connects to local AI servers or cloud APIs for private, flexible conversations.

LM Studio Assistant (LMSA) is an Android chat app that connects to AI models running on your own computer or in the cloud. You can chat with LM Studio, Ollama, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or OpenRouter, all from one app.

## What you can do

* **Chat** with AI models using text, file attachments, or voice
* **Use templates and character cards** to give the AI a specific personality or role
* **Attach files** like documents, code, and images for the AI to analyze
* **Search the web** in real time to get up-to-date information
* **Generate images** directly in chat with the `/image` command
* **Talk hands-free** in Voice Mode for a full-screen, back-and-forth conversation
* **Keep chats private** with on-device encryption, biometric unlock, and temporary chats that never save
* **Switch languages** between English, Spanish, Russian, German, and Simplified Chinese

LMSA runs on Android 7.0 (API 24) and newer. The current version is 10.40.
